Plain-Air Party Decoration Ideas

Whether you have a business party or just a throw-back event for your nearest and dearest, proper preparation is essential. Of course, you can just put some food on the tables and let people do the talking as the only way of interaction. Yet there are hundreds of ways to decorate your plain air party that would also be entertaining for your guests. The beneficial side of the tips below is that they work for professional events in casual style as well as for personal parties.

Fight the insects

Insects are one of the worst nightmares of plain air party planners. Whether you want them or not, mosquitos and biting midges will be present at your event to annoy and irritate your guests. The easiest way is to make people use sprays and smoke these insects out. Yet thats not the best request for high-ranking guests.

The trick is to use natural plants that repel the insects and at the same time dont have awful odors and dont leave any. Citronella, lemon balm, basil and lavender will all look great as decorations without drawing much attention to them.

Drinks matter

Drinks are one of the most important elements of any party. There is a common belief that for official parties all drinks must be only served. But we rush to persuade you in the opposite. Give people some freedom of choice and let them create their own cocktails! Create a station with ice, some fruits and light alcohol so that people can create mojitos and easy drinks on their own. Dont forget about some mint and other spices. Of course, you still need a bartender because not all guests might be willing to participate.

Grilling

One more great way to entertain your guests and provide them with the best and freshest food is to let them choose this food and look at its preparation. This kind of advice might not work for a home party, yet is ideal for business events. All you need is hire several chefs who will be preparing grilled food for your guests just in front of them! Let your partners choose the kind of meat or vegetables they want to have, tell their preferences to the chefs and enjoy the preparation process in front of them! This is the best way to let people eat fresh food with some new attitude!

Desert

Dont make people eat standard cakes or muffins, let them, again, prepare their own desserts. All you need is pots with coal, lighters and some marsh-mallows, fruits, hot chocolate, and whatever else you can come up with! Let every guest  have a pot with coal to be able to fry their marshmallows as in the summer camps in the childhood. It usually brings positive emotions and memories consequently leveling up the mood at your party! In case you dont have the required equipment, always remember that there are special party rental services to look for help at.

Games

Without games your party would be boring! Always think of some easy games that would engage your guests. For some these might be poker tables, for others some more active ones. Be creative! Summer is a perfect opportunity to plan some unique time-spending activities. If you dont know what to choose, remember about party planners who will make sure that your guests have fun!

Light

And the final tip is to light everything up. It is very likely that your event will last longer that then sun in the sky, so you need to ensure that you get proper lighting. For plain-air parties it is best to use some garlands and small lights around the floor. They add some mystery, romanticism and comfort to any event. Put your lights on the trees and small candles (protected by glass) on the tables to add soft mood in the evening.

Phoenix Schools Tackle Dropout Rate

The schools in the United States are considered to be in crisis due to the soaring student dropout rate. In his first State of the Union Address, President George W. Bush stated that the national dropout rate was 25 percent.

A recent study conducted by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University puts the current national dropout rate at 25 to 30 percent. Additionally, it indicated that males have the highest dropout rate of 20 to 30 percent and are most likely at risk of not graduating from high school with a diploma.

It is said that when a student drops out of school, he/she drops into the criminal justice system. In 2002, the U.S. incarcerated its two millionth person. Of those in prison at the time, 82 percent were high school dropouts.

Dropouts cost our economy billions of dollars each year, and not just from the cost of incarceration. They are an undereducated work force that retards our economic and social development. Businesses cannot depend upon a large portion of graduating students to fill much-needed jobs, which translates to lost government tax revenues. State governments lose money through welfare payments, unemployment and crime prevention programs. Governments, from the president to the local level, have discovered that if they do not pay for programs to decrease the dropout rate now, they will pay much more in the future.

According to the study, the dropout rates vary dramatically by location and racial/ethnic background. The state of Arizona was cited in the study as one of the five states with the lowest graduation rate for 18 year olds. Thus, Phoenix Schools, along with the Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, have made dropout prevention a top priority.

There are three types of dropouts:

Dropouts students who stop coming to school, Drop-In Dropouts students who come to school but do nothing while they are there, and Forced-Out Dropouts students who were counseled out by school counselors and administrators.

Phoenix Schools are addressing all three types of dropouts. Their initiatives are focused on engaging the students, rather than excluding them. They know that programs alone will not change the dropout rate. Only people and relationships can make a difference.

Phoenix schools work with businesses, community organizations and others to identify and develop effective strategies for keeping students in school. They are working to improve student academic success, believing that the high school renewal initiatives are directly linked to a decreased dropout rate. Phoenix schools are focusing on fixing the system, not the student.

Every student in the state of Arizona must now pass three tests in order to graduate high school. The tests measure the students knowledge against required state standards. Phoenix schools are focusing on the students who do not meet the state required standards. They are tackling their needs by:

Oregano Oil Side Effects 9 Reasons to Avoid

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a herb first cultivated in the Mediterranean over 2,500 years ago that has many unique health benefits. However, today we are going talk about oregano oil side effects.

First, lets take a look at why people use oregano oil

As a medicinal and culinary herb, oregano is from the mint, or Lamiaceae family. Medicinal grade oregano is distilled to extract its essential oil, while it takes over 1,000 pounds of oregano to make just one pound of oregano oil. Its unique and pleasant smell is due to pinene, thymol, limonene, ocimene, caryophyllene, and carvacrol.

But, the most predominant healing compound in oregano oil is carvacrol, and research indicates the antifungal, antibacterial, anti-parasite, antiviral, antibiotic, and antioxidant properties of this incredible oil.

As a result, oil of oregano and carvacrol may be able to fight bacterial infections, fungal infections, viruses, parasites, inflammation, candida, allergies, and even tumors. A 2013 study published in the journal PLoS ONE suggested that oregano exhibits anti-cancer activity, as the researchers concluded that oregano could treat and prevent breast cancer through preventing or slowing its progression.

Oregano Oil Side Effects
Although the health benefits are quite impressive, there is also oil of oregano side effects you need to know. Because of its strong potency, the medicinal use of oregano oil should be administered only under the guidance of a naturopathic doctor or natural practitioner.

The following is a detailed description of nine side effects of oregano oil:

1. Upset Stomach

Oregano oil is well known to treat digestive problems, including bloating, abdominal pain, stomach cramping, diarrhea, and intestinal parasites. This is due to the antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiviral properties of oregano oil.

However, this herbal oil is extremely strong and when taken in large amounts, oil of oregano can cause upset stomach or irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. It is recommended to dilute oregano oil with a carrier oil like jojoba oil before using oil of oregano for any reason.

2. Unsafe for Diabetics

Oil of oregano is also thought to be unsafe for diabetics, since it might lower blood sugar levels. Therefore, people with diabetes should use caution while taking oil of oregano.

In vitro and animal studies suggest that oregano extract may reduce blood glucose levels. Also, medicinal amounts of oregano may have additive effects when used with other supplements and herbs that lower blood sugar levels. This is thought to increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some diabetic patients.

Some herbs and supplements with hypoglycemic effects include Siberian ginseng, psyllium, Panax ginseng, horse chestnut, garlic, fenugreek, devils claw, chromium, bitter melon, and alpha-lipoic acid.

3. Inhibits Iron Absorption

Oil of oregano contains tannins that may interfere with iron absorption. Research published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1989 confirms that oregano inhibits iron absorption. This was thought to be due the content of galloyl groups in oregano.

Oregano oil can interrupt the regular absorption process and prevent a persons cells from getting enough iron. If you use oregano oil on a regular basis, it is a good idea to also take an iron supplement. Better yet, consume lots of iron-rich foods like spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, and lentils.

4. Causes Allergic Reaction

Oregano oil may also cause systemic allergic reactions. Research shows that if you are allergic or hypersensitive to plants from the mint family, such as mint, thyme, sage, lavender, hyssop, marjoram, and basil, there is a good chance you will develop a minor to severe allergy to oregano oil as well.

Some of the common allergic reactions to oil of oregano include trouble breathing, itching, irritation, skin rashes, difficulty speaking, vomiting, nausea, and swelling of the tongue, face, and lips.

5. Bleeding Disorder

Oregano oil may also increase the risk of bleeding in people with bleeding disorders. Preliminary evidence suggests that the aristolochic acid isolated from oregano leaves have anti-thrombin activity in vitro experiments. Reports indicate that oregano oil inhibits arachidonic acid-induced and ADP (adenosine diphosphate)-induced platelet aggregation. As a result, use of oil of oregano and other herbs may affect platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding.

Some of these other herbs include ginger, garlic, turmeric, clove, angelica, and red clover. Oregano oil may also enhance the effects and side effects of anti-platelet and anticoagulant drugs, such as heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), dalteparin (Fragmin), aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), and enoxaparin (Lovenox).

One of the World's Most Livable Cities - Scottsdale, Arizona

One of the World's Most Livable Cities - Scottsdale, Arizona

One of the World's Most Livable Cities - Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale, a city which has a land area of more than 180 sq.mi. situated literally in the heart of the State of Arizona, was incorporated in 1951. "America's Best Place to Live for Golf", "Most Livable Cities", "A Fabulous Place to Retire" and "Number One Resort Community in America" are some of the names affiliated with this famous small city of 240,000 residents. Native indians called Hohokams developed this land for agriculture for hundreds of years making use of their hand-built irrigation to water their plants, and were presumed to be the earliest settlers of current day Scottsdale approximately 800 to 1200 A.D. Winfield Scott along with his brother, George Washington Scott, the founders of Scottsdale came around 1888 and acquired 600 acres of land at the vicinity of Phoenix and decided to grow the area with lime trees. But as a result of heavy rains, the Indian Bend Wash overflowed and caused a huge flood that eventually destroyed the majority of the orange trees in 1891. Somewhere around the1890's, the city started to be known as "Scottsdale" and it was made official in 1897 after the arrival of the US Postal Service honoring its pioneers. The land was then purchased by the McCormicks in 1947 and transferred Motorola in 1956 to the southern area of Scottsdale. The business decisions formulated by the McCormicks created a great effect on the development of the town and accepted fresh ventures to enter.

In the 60's, US Army Engineers planned to cement the dry riverbed of the Indian Bend Wash to create a huge waterway, however the inhabitants decided to go for the installment of a system of parks and golf courses to re-route the path of the river, that they considered as efficient as the cemented canal, but more safe to the environment. Because of this, lots of golf courses soon came out.

Lots of the first occupants moved in because of their health condition; those around 300 days of great sunlight probably had an excellent influence on them, as it still does. Sunlight is indeed hard to resist and must be the foremost purpose of the 200,000 citizens right now for choosing Scottsdale.

Old Winfield probably won't distinguish the location these days. It keeps growing having a rise of new individuals, innovative ideas, and innovative advancements today, as individuals were searching for their calm place in the sun to reside and do business in tranquil setting. The pioneer inhabitants wouldn't imagine Scottsdale these days. The small agricultural neighborhood has exploded into a classy holiday resort spot that includes the finest accommodations, health spas, restaurants and shopping galore. With around 200,000 inhabitants and rising each day it would be hard for the old Scott brothers to identify the location today.

Scottsdale is definitely a excellent location to settle, and things are clean, and landscaped. No large billboards just like any other cities you most likely have visited. Structure size is controlled, to make sure that you can have at least a glimpse of countryside.

It is just not the sunlight and the climate that made it easier to put Scottsdale on the map. With all of the hotels, resorts and accommodations covering the desert, can golf courses be left behind? The first 9-hole golf course was built in 1929. Today, there are more than 120 Scottsdale golf courses inside the city limits.

Golf, resorts, eco friendly hotels and a glimpse of the "old wild west" get visitors coming from all corners the entire world. Scottsdale as well draws in designers and artists. Simply take a glimpse at approximately 100 free galleries along the main street and you'll be able to find this to be real. Frank Lloyd Wright arrived in town, and began his education for designers at Taliesin West and art has excelled since that time.

However, if you are simply visiting, perhaps you will love your vacation with around 50 Scottsdale hotels, feel the sunshine, enjoy golf, and enjoy the dining places and night hangouts. In case you transfer here you will be pleased at how clever you were to pick Scottsdale, Arizona as your hometown.

Night Life in Orlando Universal and Disney Compete for the Entertainment Audience

Competition can be a great thing for consumers because the competing companies really have to work to get their share of the market. In Orlando the two main players in the theme park category are Disney World and Universal Studios, but their competition is not confined to thrilling rides, both companies offer a wide array of nighttime entertainment. If you are visiting Orlando you will probably want to visit the entertainment areas of both parks, and here is what you can expect to find.

Let's start with Disney World. Disney's nightlife area is called Pleasure Island and it is located in the downtown area of Disney World. Pleasure Island is a collection of restaurants and night clubs. Each of the eight night clubs has a particular theme, and the entertainment and performers are chosen according to the theme of the clubs.

For example, The Wildhorse Saloon features country music and no wonder, as it is based on Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon. The club features a big dance floor and performance area, and each night a live country band is on hand to entertain guests. On the culinary side, the Wildhorse Saloon has a barbecue restaurant.

If country music is not your thing, you can just go on to the other themed clubs. For example lovers of classic rock will be happy with the play list at the Rock n Roll Beach Club. This is a club with a beach party theme, and each night a disc jockey or a live band serves up a lively set of classic rock music.

Disney's Pleasure Island also has The Comedy Warehouse, devoted to stand up comics and improvisational comedy, a club centered on the hits of the 70s and 80s, and a club where you can watch and dance to the latest music videos. Wander around the clubs and restaurants of Pleasure Island and you will certainly find something that meets your taste.

Not to be outdone by its rival Disney, Universal also an area set aside for night life activity. Universal's night club and restaurant area is called Universal CityWalk. If you are wondering which came first, Disney or Universal, then the answer in this case is Universal. The CityWalk area at it's Florida complex is modeled after its Universal Hollywood which pioneered the idea of a restaurant-night club complex.

Like Disney's Pleasure Island, CityWalk features a varied set of clubs each providing a different kind of entertainment.

If you are a fan of reggae music then your first stop should be at the "Bob Marley, a Tribute to Freedom" club. This is not only a night club but also a museum based on the museum at Bob Marley's house in Jamaica. The club features live reggae music on a nightly basis.

Do you prefer jazz? Then the CityJazz club should be your destination on any weekend. The club provides not only live music, but also has lots of jazz memorabilia on its walls. During the weekdays, the club's entertainment is comedy.

CityWalk's Latin Quarter is both a top class restaurant during the day and a lively night club at night. As its name suggests the music is Latin and it is popular with the local Hispanic community as well as tourists.

CityWalk has several other clubs and restaurants. There is no admission charge to CityWalk, though each venue has its own cover charge. An economical way to visit the area is to get a "key" to all the venues for $7.95. You can't drive through this area and will have to park your car in Universal's garages for about $7.00 per night.

Whether it is CityWalk or Pleasure Island, you will certainly find a restaurant or club where you can unwind and enjoy yourself in Orlando

Must Haves for Any At-home Chef

Must Haves for Any At-home Chef

Must Haves for Any At-home Chef

With the holidays on their way soon, many people will be beefing up kitchens to handle the increased demand for 'fit for a king' meals. Not being a professional Chef shouldn't stop you from being able to cook like one. But, you'll need the right tools to create those tantalizing dishes. Read on and find out the five tools that no kitchen cook should be without.

Mixing Bowls

Make sure that you have a good, quality set of mixing bowls on hand - the bigger the better! Many dishes need to be beaten, blended or mixed. You'll be glad you didn't skimp on the mixing bowls when you need to perform any of those tasks. Most professional chefs prefer to use stainless steel mixing bowls. However, there are many quality plastic sets available, like the ones made by OXO. But be aware that plastic bowls can become hard to clean over time, especially if used for heavy duty sauces, and may need to be replaced.

Pre-Seasoned Cookware

Cast iron skillets, pots and pans have long been a choice of the pros. But, cast iron cookware can be a little daunting. Seasoning, pre-seasoning, re-seasoning, cooking the seasonings in, oils to use, etc. to ensure your skillet is ready, is a hassle many cooks would rather not deal with. Now you don't have to. You can buy cast iron cookware galore - already seasoned - so that you have no fuss and still get the same great benefits of those using simple cast iron. Lodge is a well known maker of pre-seasoned cookware and offers many different types of cast iron cookware. Be aware -soap nor dishwashers should be used for your prized possessions.

Specialty Measuring Spoons

If you've ever seen one of grandma's old recipes refer to a pinch, smidgen or dash and have had to take a guess at the meaning (and hope you're right) then you absolutely must grab a set of pinch, smidgen or dash measuring spoons. No more guessing or testing your interpretations on your guests (as fun as that may be). This set also makes a great conversation starter - especially at family gatherings where elder members may take you on a trip down memory lane.

First out Pie Spatula

What could possibly ruin the perfect homemade Dutch crumb apple pie? Having it fall apart while you try to get that first piece out of the pie dish. Well, here is a secret of the pros - use a first out pie spatula. You bake the spatula in with the pie. When the pie comes out of the oven and cools, you make the cuts and lift that first piece out in perfect appetizing condition!

Kitchen Companion Guide

Ever wonder how long you need to steam asparagus? Not sure how to stick a thermometer in a turkey? Never butterflied a pork chop before? For all the weird, rarely used information you may need, while preparing a feast, you can turn to a kitchen guide. Look for a kitchen guide which specializes in everything and anything you may need to know while cooking any meal in any kitchen. For a complete guide that has gotten rave reviews, check out the Williams-Sonoma Kitchen Companion: The A to Z Guide to Everyday Cooking, Equipment and Ingredients.

Many of the above items may not be featured at your local retail store, so you might want to find a local kitchen specialty store near you or do your shopping online. But, if you enjoy the art of cooking and want to be armed with the best tools possible, you now have a few more to add to your arsenal which will help you cook like the pros.

Michigan Schools and Parents of Disabled Children in Conflict

Michigan Schools and Parents of Disabled Children in Conflict

As in other states, Michigan schools are seeing more and more parents of disabled children pulling them out of public schools, providing alternative private education, and then suing the Michigan Schools to foot the bill. It has become a problem and growing expense for public schools across the nation, ever since the passing of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which states that public schools are required to provide special education students with a free, appropriate public education. Disputes arise when parents and school administrators are in conflict over what is appropriate.

The Michigan Schools recently had its Birmingham school district sued by parents of a 17-year-old son with bipolar, obsessive compulsive and Aspergers disorders, as well as other impairments. Andrews condition has become more serious in recent years, though Andrews daily regimen of pills control his otherwise violent and uncontrollable episodes.

His parents believed he would be better educated at home with one-on-one instruction, where there would be few distractions. Andrew had attended Groves High School in Franklin; however, his parents took it upon themselves to pull him out and provide his education at home through private teachers.

Michigan schools officials in the Birmingham district believe that Andrew would do better being educated at the high school with other students, where he could improve his social skills. The dispute between parents and Michigan schools administrators became a legal battle, with the parents seeking compensation of $113,000 to pay for the at-home private teachers and therapists for the past three years, as well as to cover these same expenses for one additional year.

The Michigan schools district in Birmingham charged that they had provided the Lipsitt boy with appropriate educational opportunities by shortening his school week and providing classes with opportunities for him to learn to socialize (some in regular classroom settings). They made numerous attempts to create a special educational program for Andrew, all of which were rejected by his parents, who wanted him home schooled.

This is not the first such case for the Michigan schools that currently have 242,000 students, who receive special educational services, and the number is growing each year. In the 2005-2006 school year, the Michigan schools saw 110 formal complaints over special educational services. There were only 77 such complaints just nine years ago. Though most cases are resolved before ever going to a hearing, the Michigan schools are seeing more and more parents pulling their special needs children out of the public schools first, providing alternative education, and then suing the Michigan schools districts for compensation.

Some cases do not even involve services that the Michigan schools are obligated to provide. One family with an autistic 12-year-old, for instance, was told by their doctor that their son needed several hours each week of speech therapy. They wanted the Michigan schools to provide this, but they offered 40 minutes each week, though they were not obligated by law to provide any such services. The parents then went to their insurance company, which paid for some of the therapy, as well.

Mexican Food Started Here

Most do not know the important role New Mexico has played in culinary history. Researchers and archeologists agree that New Mexico was one of the earliest settlements of the Mongolians and Tibetans when they came over the Bering strait to settle the Americas. The area has attracted visitors from before recorded history, who in turn created the pure, often spicy flavors known in New Mexico's foods.

Primarily chiles are both king and queen. Chiles themselves have been more developed in New Mexico than anywhereespecially since World War II, when Dr. Jim Nakiyami, a Professor at New Mexico State University gave his leadership to developing many, many new varieties of chiles.

And, most do not know that the first American wines were made in New Mexico. The priests, Jesuits and Monks brought the first cuttings of grapes here in the 1620's from Spain, thus predating the California wine industry by 140 years.

With Prohibition in the 1920's the wine making died out, not to get started again until 50 years later in the late 1970's. Now there are over 50 wine makers throughout the state making world class, award winning wines. The wines go very well with the chile laden traditional dishes as well as any kind of food or enjoyed alone. New Mexico is often credited with being the fountainhead of the Mexican taste. For it is there that the earliest settlers from Asia; who were the root population of the Western areas of the Americas, first settled and lent their primitive cooking methods and simple, straight forward ingredients to create a simple, frontier cuisine that continues to win the hearts and souls of all who try it.

From New Mexico, the earliest settlers went south to populate Central and South America, taking their culinary customs with them. So there are similarities in the native cuisines of all the Americas.

No matter whether the chiles are the unripe green ones or the ripe red ones, they both provide the great benefits of capsaicin which is so amazing as an antioxidant.often cited as the world's greatest anti-oxidant. And anti-oxidants basically are good for us as an inhibitor of cancer cell development among other claims.

Chiles enhance your entire body's functionsmaking your heart healthier, also your entire vascular system, enhancing your digestion, your skin and your waistline. They excite your endorphins more than any other food and on a scale of "runner's high".

So you gotta try them. Don't let the spiciness or hotness scare youthe hotter the healthier, however to begin with start mild and work up to hotter. You will be glad you didbut get ready, they are habit formingnearly an addiction, so you will more than likely get hooked on the wonderfully exciting flavors.

However, if you do get uncomfortably hot and spicy chiles, just remember that you can tame them down quickly by eating or drinking anything sweet, dairy or acid such as lime juice or wine.

In this simplistic cuisine, created out of less than 10 major ingredients, corn is the real staple with the chiles being the personality. Beans are very important as are various members of the gourd and lily families to the cuisine.

Actually the combination of chiles, corn and beans is considered one of the three most healthy cuisines in the world. The other two are Eastern and Western Mediterranean.

Perhaps the New Mexican native's favorite traditional dish is Red Chile Enchiladas while most visitor's to our state prefer the Green Chile ones. In New Mexico, when an enchilada (which by the way means "in chile") is served as a main course, it is served flat, not rolled.

What most people think of as Mexican food elsewhere in the world, really is New Mexican food. And now, it is the most popular taste in America, outselling all other cuisines nationally. Tortillas outsell bread and margaritas are the most popular cocktail. Amazing, from such simple roots.

The flavors are purer, simpler and more robust by far in New Mexico than in Old Mexico, where the European influence was stronger in the development of their cuisine.

Some popular traditional New Mexican dishes are Carne Adovado, which was developed originally by the Spanish as a way to preserve pork after butchering. Red chile being the world's best anti-oxidant retards spoilagea hint the Spanish learned from the Indians. The dish is a simple preparation of slow roasted pork that has marinated in a red chile and herb marinade. Amazingly good, if well prepared.

A truly native dish is posole, the bowl of many blessings--a dish made from lime (as in agricultural ground lime) soaked corn kernels. It is stewed with well browned pork bits, chiles and herbs. It is quite flavorful. Posole is a reverant dish due to the fact that posole is the Mother process for preserving corn and corn in the Native religions is the Giver of Lifetheir Eve so to speak.

New Mexico style chile rellenos are another native treat. They are traditionally stuffed with cheese and crusted with a meringue or corn crust and fried. They are quite good as a main dish or side dish.

A truly native ingredient is the blue corn, which was developed by the Ancients. It is smoked with pinon wood as they did not have access to agricultural lime for preserving the corn.

Sopaipillas were first made in 1620 in the courtyard in front of the San Francisco de Neri church in Old Town Albuquerque. They were first made as a treat for the Indians who attended church.

Metabolic Cooking by Chef O.B

Get Cooking and Get Healthy

I love to cook. I was a professional chef and I still enjoy creating wonderful meals for my family and friends. At the same time I worry about the health effects of all that rich eating. And to be honest, I've packed on some extra pounds that I'm not too happy about.

You might think that my knowledge of food and cooking techniques would make it easy to create healthy alternatives. That isn't the case. Over the years I've tried to cook leaner and lighter, but I could never get used to sacrificing taste for health. Most of the low-calorie recipes left me unsatisfied and seemed to put my cravings into overdrive. I'll admit, I gave up on dieting because I just couldn't stand the thought of eating bland tasteless food the rest of my life. As for my family, when I tried to sneak a low-fat meal into my rotation, they complained bitterly. I can't blame them. They were used to fine dining and I was serving them cooked cardboard.

I was at the point of giving up when I happened to chat with my neighbor. She had recently lost a lot of weight and didn't seem like she was suffering at all. She told me she was using a system called metabolic cooking. That threw me. I thought it was a new cooking technique. And I wondered, how can cooking be metabolic? Is it related to metabolism?

I was close. Metabolic cooking refers to a way of eating that gets your metabolism rolling like a pot on a fast boil. It's a three-part food plan that turns every meal into a fat-burning session for your body.

What kind of meal? Here comes the good part. There's nothing dry or tasteless here. With this type of cooking I've been able to feed myself and my family better than I ever thought possible. Every day I have fun deciding what we're going to eat: Pancakes or blueberry muffins for breakfast; pesto grilled pork chops or stuffed peppers, maybe with a side of curried eggplant, for dinner; pina colada and chocolate mint smoothies for snacks; and mouth-watering desserts. Everything's made from wholesome, natural ingredients.

These recipes were developed by a husband and wife team who faced the same challenge I did: creating healthy meals that people want to eat. When I decided to order the plan I thought I'd be getting one cookbook. It's actually nine cookbooks! There's also a guide that will help you create a personalized program, directions on meal planning for optimal success, and extras like meal planners and shopping lists.

As I said, I love to cook but what's impressive about metabolic cooking is that it will work even if you don't like cooking, have never cooked, or think you're not good at it. These are simple recipes that don't involve any complicated steps. You can buy the ingredients wherever you normally shop. Picky adults and kids alike will love them; and they're so easy you can have fun cooking together and teaching your children healthy habits that will last them a lifetime.

Cooking is the heart of this plan, but there are two other important elements. The first is food combining; for the plan to work, you have to follow the guidelines for what foods to eat together and when to eat them. The second is a good protein supplement, and the authors give you pointers on where to buy the ones they recommend.

There is solid science behind this system. Researchers have found that certain foods, especially in the right combination at the right time, will spark even the laziest metabolism into action. But until now it's been difficult to find a plan based on those principles that's also simple to use.

Everyone's sick of diets, and this is not a diet. This is an easy, powerful way to change your body and your life.

Member Care Tips Sensual Activity Around the House

Although there are many aspects involved in proper member care, its a big plus that one of the most important is making sure the member sees an appropriate amount of sensual activity. As with many things in life, member care has a "use it or lose it" aspect; the manhood needs to be kept in shape through practice, whether with alone or with a partner. And, indeed, studies have shown that men who have frequent seed releases have a decreased risk of prostate cancer in later life, another bonus of good member care. And to enliven the sensual activity that the male organ requires, couples may want to think a little outside the box - or the bedroom - and consider coupling in other parts of the house.
With that in mind, the following tips are offered for those anxious to indulge themselves all around the house.

The living room

According to one survey, next to the bedroom, the living room is the most popular place in the house for sensual activity. And why not? A sofa is a good substitute for a bed, after all. But there can be other advantages to the living room. For example, if it contains a fireplace, coupling next to a roaring fire can be intense. Rugs, pillows, ottomans and foot stools can be arranged on the floor to help accommodate exploration of positions that require greater flexibility and bendability, as well as extra support. Take advantage of what the living room has to offer to try new things with a partner.

The bathroom

The bathroom followed the living room on the aforementioned survey of hot places for coupling other than the bedroom - and thats because of the shower. Engaging in sensual activity in the shower is a very different experience, and its often a good way for a couple who feels theyve fallen into a sensual rut to break out. However, its important to remember that coupling in the shower can be dangerous, due to slipperiness and difficulty maintaining balance, Rather than focus on standing up, penetrative sensual activity, many couples find that the shower is a great place for oral and manual sensual activities.

The garage

Umm, coupling in a greasy garage? Not everyones cup of tea. But coupling inside a car in the garage is another story. Its an excellent way to relive the thrill of secretive teen-age sensual activity, but from the safety and privacy of a couples own private garage.

The laundry room

Surprisingly, laundry rooms are very popular for coupling. The main reason for this is the vibrations the washer or dryer make. Lay a blanket on top, arrange a pillow against the wall for comfort and set the machine on high. It may take some adjusting to find a comfortable position, and depending on how high the machine is, the man may need to stand on a sturdy ottoman. But the results can be revelatory.

The kitchen

Take advantage of the contents of the kitchen to make sensual activity especially tantalizing. Partners can apply whipped cream, honey, jelly, mustard, and other food stuffs to various body parts and then have fun satisfying their cravings (both culinary and sensual). Just be sure to clean up the kitchen when through!

Advancing member care through frequent sensual activity is excellent, but a man still needs to do more, such as regularly apply a superior male organ health crme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) to his member. The best crmes are those which include a wide range of vitamins, especially A, B5, C, D and E. But the crme should also include L-arginine, a valuable amino acid which is part of the process whereby male organ blood vessels open and expand to receive the increased flow of blood that occurs during the tumescence process.

Mcspicy Paneer Burger Is One Tasty Joy Ride

Mcspicy Paneer Burger Is One Tasty Joy Ride

Us everyday folks who enjoy McDonalds will never know the hard work that goes behind finding new and tasty staple food items. The invention of a new McDonalds burger is not so easy as to bake a pie. First you have to consider the demand, resources, customer mentality and other factors before you really jump the gun. Knowing your customers is the first step, but perhaps the most important is to find the right burger which even the customers do not yet know they want. Now apply this process to the Indian market with all its diverse population, cultures, preferences, inclinations and demands; makes your head spin, doesnt it? In 2010, a similar dilemma was faced by high-level representatives of McDonalds who wanted to introduce a new kind of burger using a paneer patty.

McDonalds Spicy Paneer burger is one tasty joy ride one of the most popular McDonalds burgers ever to be introduced exclusively for the Indian market, but it was not an easy task to achieve. Since the Indian market has a large demand for vegetarian items, coming up with a specialty vegetarian burger was of utmost importance. However, paneer or farmers cheese is not like meat, soya or any other meat-substitute: if prepared too soft it crumbles, unable to hold the burger together, if too hard it turns rubbery when fried. So being the pioneers of Indian fast-food, McDonalds did what it does best: it came up with a new way to manufacture the right type of paneer.

Abhijit Upadhye, the head of Menu Management and Supply Chain at McDonalds, was assigned the task of creating this specialty paneer burger. In search for an equipment that would coat the paneer just right, Abhijit sent a team consisting of McDonalds and other representatives from partner companies Vista and Kerry Systems to visit Netherlands-based CFS, a renowned food processing equipment company and alas, found what they wanted.

But that was only the first phase of the plan: Now with the right equipment in their hands, what was required was a supplier who would be able to produce 120 tonne of paneer every month. They found their supplier in a Thane-based dairy-processor owner, Rajan Malik of Good Day Foods. At the location, the team tried several approaches to find the right method of producing desirable paneer, by using different kinds of milk and creating different levels of moisture in the finished cheese. Finally, the right combination was finalized by using buffalo milk from Kolhapur belt.

When they had the right kind of paneer figured, the team turned their energy to finding the right combination of ingredients which must compliment the paneer patty in the traditional McDonalds way. A sauce technician at Mrs. Bector took the game when he suggested tandoori sauce, and as they say the rest is history.

In March 2011, the production was started at Vistas processing unit at Taloja, Navi Mumbai and
the burger was finally launched on March 28, 2011. Its roaring success was instantaneous and since then McSpicy Paneer burger has found a loving and loyal group of customers.

Whether you go to a McDonalds outlet in the South & West, or North & East McSpicy Paneer stares down from the over-head menu with equitable dignity. In a country full of people who are as diverse in their tastes, preferences and inclinations, what McDonalds has achieved is not a shade less than genius. Being a pioneer of Indian QSR industry, McDonalds has revolutionized the way Indians go out for meals. By introducing a varied menu of vegetarian and non-vegetarian staple items, which are prepared in separate sections of the kitchen, McDonalds has embraced the widely diverse region with open-arms, creating history in the process.

Marketing Archetypes What's Your Type

Marketing Archetypes What's Your Type

Marketing Archetypes What's Your Type

As a marketing coach, I've worked with hundreds of businesses over the years, from technology to therapeutic touch. There were the businesses that were just starting out, bright-eyed, full of start-up dreams and enthusiasm. There were those well-established businesses, hoping to hone their marketing mix. There were businesses in expansion, or downsizing, those for sale, or those in the throes of dissolution. Everyone I worked with wanted the best--for themselves, their companies, and their customers. They just weren't sure how to make that happen.
The more marketing I did, the more I uncovered distinctions between various marketing "styles." Like Eskimos who differentiate between qualities of snow, I began seeing patterns in how businesses and individuals approach the marketing function.

What follows is the first of the seven archetypes, "Sally Spaghetti." The act of recognizing archetypical qualities is the first step in shifting to a more powerful and productive way of handling marketing--whatever phase you and your business are in.

Sally Spaghetti. Helen, a web designer, arrived at my office with her arms full. Spreading out portfolios and other materials, she declared, "Nothing I'm doing seems to bring in customers. What's wrong with my marketing?" In business for two years, Helen had spent thousands of dollars on magazine advertising, radio spots, association memberships, and other marketing vehicles. When I asked Helen how she chose the various vehicles, she said, "When I opened my business, a number of vendors called me with some great-sounding deals. I thought some of those deals were too good to pass up. I didn't think I had much to lose, so I tried them, It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I know I didn't get the results I wanted, and I remember how disappointed I felt. I'm still not really sure what I did wrong, was it timing, the wrong publication, a bad ad, or something else. I guess I'm really not sure what to do differently the next time around. I'm also not sure there's going to be a next time around since by now, I've spent so much of my budget. I know I sure can't afford more marketing mistakes."

Helen's situation is what I call the "Sally Spaghetti" syndrome. Helen made an assumption that marketing was about experimenting with different marketing vehicles. For her, this meant trying whatever came along and sounded like a good deal. Helen made the assumption that she couldn't afford a professional marketer at the beginning stage of her business. She decided that marketing was something she would do on her own, and that this would be good enough.

As a new business owner, Helen heard from many marketing vendors. She was aware that the vendors who approached her seemed extremely excited about their product, service, or idea. Helen noticed that after she spoke with them, her body often felt charged by those interactions. Helen had let herself get "hooked" by vendors' adrenaline, Every time Helen bought a vendor's product, she would think, "This is the one that will finally bring customers to my door." Often, the marketing vehicles Helen purchased were ads in new-to-market magazines, "one of a kind" radio spots, trade show booths at new expos. Even though Helen was not gullible in other parts of her life, she would let herself be convinced to make a buying decision, before others took the opportunity from her, before the price went up, before the deadline closed. In one case, Helen hoped to hedge her bets, by signing up for a group package with like businesses in her field. Together, they all purchased advertising time on a well-known celebrity's television show. Given the celebrity, results seemed guaranteed. Helen drew the false conclusion that if similar businesses were buying in, it was the right thing to do. When the spot aired, it was too short, and once more, Helen was disappointed.

Marketing Cure. Helen's marketing strategy was the equivalent of throwing cooked spaghetti against a wall, and if it stuck, the spaghetti was done. This haphazard approach ultimately, cost Helen more than time, money, and lost business, it also made her wary of the marketing process. Helen believed she was being proactive about marketing; in fact, her marketing approach got her business into trouble.

Helen needs to learn that effective marketing is both an art and science. Professional marketers typically go through rigorous academic training to learn marketing, from theory to practicum and case studies. Once a marketer has been in business for some years, they gain the seasoning that comes with real world experience. While marketers may differ in their marketing recommendations, certain marketing beliefs are core and foundational. Most marketing professionals treat every business as unique, even if a business looks similar on the surface to others. Marketing strategy that works for one company seldom works for other companies, even those in the same industry, A difference in just one aspect of a business may shift the entire marketing mix. The name of the business, its size, location, product distinctions, and ideal customer are all factors that impact the marketing plan.

Helen also needs to shift her approach from looking at how other businesses are doing marketing to reflecting on her own business values and goals. Many businesspeople unwittingly have an externally driven approach to their marketing. By "going within," and focusing more clearly on herself and her business, Helen can begin a process I call "marketing from the inside out." This internally driven process is based on the premise that each business and individual has something special to bring to the world. Meditation, contemplation, and other tools designed to bring forward inner guidance can support the marketing process on a deep level.

Helen's business will prosper from having a unique, positive brand identity. She has learned that one-shot advertising rarely works, and that following those who know less than she does about marketing is not a good idea.

Passion Matters. The good news is that the seven archetypes are all passionate about their business. Often, these individuals want to make a difference, to provide value, to change lives. While all seven archetypes (see the book "Branding and Marketing Mastery" for full descriptions) are enthusiastic about the product or service they are offering, they also reflect a certain business inexperience, lack of focus, distractibility, marketing gaps, fear, stubbornness and/or adrenaline orientation. In some cases, functioning as a lone ranger provides control but keeps out both good and bad influences. Believing that only they know how to run their business and wanting to do things perfectly creates too tight a corner from which to operate from.

"SweetSpot" Marketing(tm). I call the process of determining the vortex point where who you are, what your business offers, and what your buyer wants your marketing "sweet spot." SweetSpot Marketing(tm) has various stages, depending on how long your business has been in existence, what your product or service is, how developed the business is, and what level of success you are seeking.
The earliest stage might involve preliminary market research. With SweetSpot Marketing(tm), this happens on four levels: mental, emotional, physical and, if appropriate, spiritual. During this stage, we might create a name for your business, product or idea that taps into your market's true desires.
A second stage might involve creating or reviewing existing promotional materials. This stage can evolve into branding or niche marketing, to give your business what it needs to stand out in the marketplace. For structured support and accountability, it may be worthwhile to develop a marketing budget and marketing plan.
The third stage invves moving your marketing, newly aligned with who you are and who your prospective customer is, into action.
Stage four involves making needed tweaks and shifts to integrate and absorb the effects of business growth.
Partnering For Success
A client told me that hiring a marketing coach eliminated her years of "wondering and wandering." Because you are, by nature, so close to your product, it can be challenging to see your business in perspective, and make consistent, wise, marketing decisions. Savvy marketing coaching can accelerate your business growth, save money, increase profits and prevent costly mistakes. Your business is a great classroom -- maximize your learning opportunities and you'll move forward with greater success.

Major Water Pollutants and How to Stop Them

What is Water Pollution

The water pollution is the process of contamination of water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds, oceans and more. When pollutants which have not been treated to get their harmful compounds decreased enter in the water ecosystem, the effects of water pollution are something that happens naturally. The consequences of this disaster impact the life of most form of lives such as animals of all kinds (including ground and water species), humans and plants of all type.

High levels of water pollution lead to other causes of contamination such as land pollution, disease spreading, and extermination of entire animal species.

Natural Causes of Water Pollution

Apart from the most common reasons of water contamination which are mostly a result of human activities, there are also absolutely natural processes that lead to alteration in the quality and molecular structure of water.

Oxygen-depleting Substances

Plant matter or leaves are cause the so-called turbidity. This is a process that blocks the access of sunlight to plants and makes them somehow unable to gather the required resources for their growth process. These oxygen-depleting substances also cause gills blockage to some fish species which results in reduced lifespan.

Coliform Bacteria

The presence of this bacteria is usually associated with the existence of a fecal organism in water. Most coliform bacteria are harmless but the rest of the pathogens that come from the warm-blooded animals fecal mass may cause diarrhea to children and grown ups. To this day about 2, 000 kids die each day of diarrhea caused by water contamination and poor waste management and water treatment.

Anthropogenic Types of Water Pollutants

Apart from the natural process of water pollution, the existence and activity of humankind to this day leaves the most significant impact on water resources contamination. Most of it is caused due to the constantly increasing rate of industrial activities, poor waste management, energy production and not following the regulations of rubbish removal. The usage of pesticides and herbicides for agricultural purposes is one of the other general sources of water pollutants.

Industrial Pollution

Theoretically, the industrial activities can be almost 100% secure to the environment. However, in practice, things are a bit different. Owners of small businesses cannot cope with the taxes and regulations of their governments which lead to regular fly-tipping and other activities that lead to water pollution.

Use of Outdated Technologies

Industrial premises that cant afford contemporary equipment continue to use outdated technology and methods of industrial activities that generate a tremendous amount of commercial waste. When this is not disposed of an environmentally friendly way or recycled properly, it usually causes air pollution and groundwater contamination.

Natural Resources Leching
Due to the high demand of raw materials that are required for most of the industrial activities, operations like mining need to be done regularly. Unfortunately, these activities result in high amounts of copper, lead, and mercury that enter in the ecosystem and cause water pollution

Thermal pollution

This is a process that usually occurs because of energy production facilities like power plants. These facilities use the water resources to cool the power plants and then return the water to the ecosystem with changed properties.

The used water supply overheats and with significantly reduced oxygen levels. That causes oxygen depletion of plants and may disrupt the life of fish species which may be highly attracted by the increased water temperature, especially in cold seasons.

The metabolism of living species in water is affected even by a slight change of 1 degrees Celcius. That disrupts the coagulation of cell proteins and affects the productivity and lifetime of plants and animals.

Thermal Shock

Thermal Shock happens when there is an instant change of the water temperature. When there are living organisms in this area that get quickly and significantly warmer or cooler, the life forms cannot adapt to the change fast enough. Thermal shock usually kills many animals species instantly or causes inevitable damage to their body structure.

Land pollution

Despite that land pollution and water contamination should be studied separately, they are actually highly related and can be viewed as processes that somehow affect each other naturally. Land pollution happens when waste materials are being disposed of at the land surface or buried deep into the soil due to the emission of chemicals which soak deep into the soil and enter into ground water.

Herbicides and Pesticides

The constantly increasing demand for food resources requires the usage of advanced agricultural techniques. Unfortunately, most of them are related to usage of huge quantities of pesticides. Sadly, about 95% of the herbicides end up at the topsoil layer and later get deeper into the food and water resources.

Effects of Water Pollution

The Effects of water pollution are various and all of them are negative. Some of them can even be considered as highly dangerous because they lead to thousands of human deaths per day. Overall, there arent any harmful effects of water pollution that cannot be avoided but some are either too expensive and others are happening at a scale that is perfectly natural and cannot lead to any extreme levels of contamination.

Aquatic Animals Death

Fish, seabirds, marine life and other animals become victims of water pollution caused mostly by toxic waste and plastic pollution. The tiny plastic pieces that are being swirled by the Ocean Gyre in the Pacific ocean terrorize the marine life across earth by entangling it or poisoning it until painful death puts an end to their misery. Almost any death of animal done by water contamination is a human deed.

Diseases

Eating polluted seafood can give you hepatitis that is hard or even almost impossible to cure. Cholera and diarrhea cause the deaths of thousands of people every day in less developed countries due to the lack of clean water resources. The main reason for this is uncivilized living, the absence of water treatment and lack of financial resources that may somehow secure bottled water for the people.

Diarrhea

This terrible disease is caused by a parasitic organism that is living in contaminated water. This physical state is considered to be a symptom of infection which is caused mostly by unclean water and ignorance of basic hygiene. Human and animal feces are a dangerous water pollutant and drinking from such water resources is highly not advisable without first purifying the water.

Studies prove that 1 out of 9 children deaths is due to diarrhea. Although being easily treated with the proper medical equipment and medicine, in less developed countries the symptoms of diarrhea are being ignored because of lack of hospital facilities and medical treatment resources.

Water Pollution Solutions

Efficient household waste disposal can certainly guarantee reduced amounts of waste stacked at the landfill. On the long term, this may greatly help to reduce the levels of water pollutants but only when this is adopted by a significant percentage of the population on Earth.

Strict Regulations of Industrial Activity

When the industry is facing the challenge to earn a profit that satisfies the owners and the employees as well but that is impossible due to the taxes that have to be paid for waste management and other required procedures, some industry giants prefer to break the law and commit crimes that lead to terrible pollution. One of these is waste disposal in rivers instead of paying to a licensed commercial waste carrier. A more strict control from the local governments can lead to solutions for this common issue.

Professional Tips To Reduce Water Pollution

Dont leave water running when there is no need for that. Usually, this is done during teeth brushing and shaving.
Find profitable ways to recycle for money and save cash by upcycling or recycling old things into stuff that you usually pay for. That will also reduce the waste you produce instead of leaving it to be dumped.
Do not drop any toxic/hazardous waste in the drain. That instantly sends the harmful substances in the ecosystem and doesnt help at all to reduce water pollution.
Properly dispose of toxic chemicals rather than dropping them down the drain.
